I have been a professional all of my adult life in many fields, such as banking, legal and accounting.  I have owned, alone or in partnership, my own businesses since 1975.  I owned and operated a women's boutique for ten years.  I am a self-starter who knows what it takes to have deadlines and to be a professional.  

 Previously, I owned and operated a temporary employment service in Great Bend, Kansas.  We also provided bookkeeping services, professional typing and medical and legal transcription.  I now provide scoping services full-time .

In pursuing this career, I learned to read steno in a self-study Internet course. This provided me a solid basic skill which allows me to scope with or without audio support.  I regularly attend seminars on punctuation and grammar to enhance my proofreading and editing skills.

I have been scoping for over 10 years.  My first jobs were with a reporting firm in New Jersey, proofreading for new reporters.  I'm glad I started that way; I saw how transcripts should look and learned the structure of speaker IDs.  When I started scoping after taking my scoping course, it was an easy transition.

In scoping through the years, I have experienced both the court room and the board room with depositions.  I have scoped many trials from start to finish and also worked with a reporter doing dailies for the afternoon session of a trial in D.C. that took eight months.  My experience has included murder, theft, big business, the movie business, and misdemeanor offenses.  I find this business challenging and enjoy my work.

I use the current version of Case CATalyst  for my CAT system.

I enjoy scoping.  I have the time to do the job the way it should be done.  I offer word-for-word editing, checking context, spelling, formatting and punctuation.

 I work nights and weekends if that is what the job requires.  My husband not only supports my efforts, he even assists with some of the research when I'm really on a deadline.
